Pioneer has announced the UK launch of its "enhanced" KURO plasma TVs with separate media receiver – the 50-inch KRP-500A and 60-inch KRP-600A – together with its 50-inch KRP-500M and 60-inch KRP-600M monitors.

The new models are HD ready 1080p and Pioneer says, feature the "exceptional" black levels that have become synonymous with the KURO brand, although does not give hard-and-fast specs in the release we received.

With a depth of 64mm, the sets have a separate media receiver that's described as "whisper-quiet" and connects to the screen through one cable.

The AV Optimum Mode with optical light sensor for automated adjustment of picture settings according to the lighting conditions in the room and the actual image on the screen, is said to result in the best viewing experience.

The KRP-500A and KRP-600A feature an integrated analogue tuner, and a digital terrestrial (DVB-T) tuner and a digital satellite (DVB-S/DVB-S2) tuner.

DLNA-certified, the TVS offer a new "modern-looking" graphical user interface with a swanky aluminium remote, the media receivers boast four HDMI inputs and they are all KURO LINK happy too.

Pricing not yet revealed but availability is September for the 60-inch TV, October for the 50-incher while the monitors will launch in August for the big jigger and October for the smaller model.
