Sling Media has shown a proof of concept software application that will allow iPhone and iPod touch users to access their Slingbox via the phone and MP3 Player.

Although currently at pre-Alpha stage (very early in development) it means that when the software does eventually launch Slingbox users will be able to access their satellite or Freeview channels at home anywhere in the world with a Wi-Fi connection.

The Sling player app could be sold through the iPhone Apps store when it is expected to launch this month.

The only problem however, is that Sling Media currently is an approved developer by Apple.

Engadget, who managed to get a hands-on video on the software in action is reporting that Sling Media is hoping to have a full working version for consumers by the end of the year.

We will keep you posted.
