$299 7-inch RazorBook gets US launch

Aimed at students and travellers, 3K has launched the Eee-rivalling 7-inch RazorBook 400 in the States.

This little notebook system is internet-ready (802.11 b/g) and weighs in at less than 2lbs. Offering a "remarkably vivid" 7-inch WVGA 800 x 480 TFT display and somehow, a full-size keyboard, the company says the device puts the web in the palm of your hand.

Claiming a power efficient design (although only a 2 cell, 2100 mAh battery) the RazorBook has a 400MHz processor, 512MB DDR2 memory, a solid state disk that offers 4GB of storage, built-in speakers and three USB ports.

With a 15 second boot time, 3K promises the little Linux-based lappie is user-friendly and intuitive with the open source Office Suite that includes AbiWord, GNUMeric, an email client and a PDF Reader pre-loaded.

In addition there is media software bundled too, such as games, a music player, a movie player "and more".

Measuring 8.25 x 5.5 x 1.25-inches, the diminutive device is on sales now in the States for $299.
