RealNetworks has announced the final release of its new RealPlayer in the UK following a 5-month public beta period.

The new features of the RealPlayer allow consumers to download a variety of online video content to the iPod while an updated Real.com interface provides a destination for downloadable content.

RealNetworks claims RealPlayer is the first major media player to offer a simple to use one-click video download experience. Previously, iPod owners only had access to video content through Apple iTunes, but by using RealPlayer's advanced set of features, users now have access to non-DRM protected videos from thousands of websites.

By upgrading to RealPlayer Plus for £20, consumers can transfer downloaded video content to their Apple iPod nano, iPod classic and iPod with video. There are also plans to include Apple iPhone and iTouch video transfer support in early-2008.
