Philips has announced it is to extend its range of Prestigo "premium" universal remote controls with the launch of the new SRU8015 model.

Designed for ease-of-use, the big selling point for this remote is the visual channel "icons" to give easy access to your favourite programmes.

The device offers a 2-inch, 176 x 220 full-colour LCD screen, a rotary wheel and white key backlighting for easier navigation.

With an "advanced" on-screen set-up wizard, the universal remote can be set-up instantly, according to Philips, and without needing to access a PC or consult the manual.

The "FAV" button immediately directs users to a screen where up to 100 preferred channel icons can be selected (from a total choice of 400), so channels can be selected icon rather than needing to remember digit keys.

By pressing "MORE", users can access a page of special functions, while the "HOME" button does what you'd imagine it would.

The SRU8015 universal remote can support up to 15 home ent products, and can learn codes of new remotes simply by pointing the handset and the device or existing remote control at each other.

The SRU8015 is available now for an approximate high street price of £99.99.
