Alcatel officially launches Mandarina Duck fashion fone

If it looks like a duck...

Previewed earlier this year as part of Carphone Warehouse's Christmas designer line-up, Alcatel has officially unveiled its new Mandarina Duck fashion handset mobile.

The clamshell, with a glossy and rubberised finish is a GRPS handset and will come in three bold colours, cherry red, lilac and green with colour-coordinated graphics.

To suit the female audience, it comes complete with a phone charm and bag clip, so you can easily attach it to your bag (preferably of the Madarina Duck variety) and not lose it in the depths.

There are preloaded Madarina Duck images and animations too - just in case people don't notice the branding from the sizable duck logo on the back.

As you would expect from a fashion fone, the tech spec isn't breaking any boundaries, with a VGA-quality camera, 128x160 resolution display, a WAP browser, 10MB internal memory, back up with up to 1GB microSD card and an MP3 player.

On the plus side, there is A2DP Bluetooth support, a flight mode, it can play H.263 and MPEG4 video and battery life is good with up to 7 hours talk-time and 10 hours for music playback.

The Madarina Duck handset will be available exclusively from Carphone Warehouse stores at the start of November, pricing is still TBC.

STORY UPDATE: The phone will go on sale on 1st November for £79.95.
