Canon is releasing three new models into its range of CanonScan scanners.
There are two new LiDE scanners, the CanoScan LiDE 100 and the CanoScan LiDE 200, both of which have increased resolutions on the models they replace - the CanoScan LiDE 25 and CanoScan LiDE 90 respectively.
There is also the CanoScan 5600F - a CCD-scanner which replaces the CanoScan LiDE 600F.
There are some shared features across the three scanners, one of the key ones being the Auto Scan Mode. This recognises the type of document or photo while scanning and saves it using optimal settings.
They also all feature EZ buttons - Canon's one-touch buttons control the scanners' most common tasks. The four EZ buttons on the LiDE 100 and LiDE 200 cover Copy, Scan, Email and PDF, while the pricier CanoScan 5600F has seven EZ buttons in total - three for Copy, Scan, Email and four to cover the creation of Multi-Page PDF documents.
Separately the scanners offer different specs and functionality to suit.
The LiDE 100 has a 2400x4800dpi resolution with 48-bit colour, and features a 300dpi scan speed that will print an A4 document in around 24 seconds. The entry-level model also comes with software that will reduce the dust and scratches on photos to give them a better look on scanning.
The LiDE 200 builds on the features of its younger sibling with an increased resolution of 4800x4800dpi and an improved scan speed for a colour A4 document or photo of 14 seconds. Just as with the LiDE 100, it also comes with the dust and scratch reduction software.
It's worth noting that both the LiDE 100 and 200 don't need an AC adaptor, as they simply get their power via a USB link to your PC instead.
Finally, the CanoScan 5600F - aimed at a higher level of user. It has a 4800x9600dpi resolution with 48-bit colour and offers 300dpi A4 scans in a speedy 11 seconds. It also includes film scanning, with six-frame support for 35mm strip and four-frame support for 35mm slide, and white LED technology, which means the scanner can start immediately with no warm up.
All of the scanners in the range come with the MP Navigator EX 2.0 software that allows you to manage and enhance your photos and documents such as add passwords to PDF files, classify and view images and correct them where necessary.
The three scanners will all be available from September and will be priced as follows:
CanoScan LiDE 100 - £59
CanoScan LiDE 200 - £69
CanoScan 5600F - £139
