Marantz has unveiled a slimline AV amplifier that's aimed at the "entry-level" sector of the market. The NR1501 amp measures just 10cm from top to bottom - around half the size of normal surround sound designs. Despite this, Marantz claims that it still "packs a full size punch".
There's 50W of power across each of the seven channels, Dolby TrueHD dts HD Master Audio decoding, and four HDMI inputs that can feed a single HDMI output. Analogue sources from three component video inputs are automatically up-scaled to HDMI quality.
The unit comes with an MRAC auto setup for audio tuning which uses a microphone and on-screen display to match the sound to your room. It'll be available in November and cost £450.
