Comment: Stuart Miles' top 5 from IFA 2007

The dust is settling on this year's IFA in Berlin, Germany, but with hundreds of products launched and shown over the place few days, what did I get really excited about?

Here are my top five from the show in no particular order.

Sharp's thin prototype LCD television
It might not be available to buy until 2010, but the Sharp prototype TV was certainly thin, 20mm thin to be precise. Why would you want a thin TV? Well because while flat-screen televisions are not that fat anyway a super thin TV could be hidden into the wall even easier. They just better make sure that the accompanying stand isn't still big.

Pico Prototype Pico Projector
Another prototype I know, but seen behind closed doors, it was pretty impressive none the less. Coming out of a box that looked like a fat mobile phone, you could watch movies or give presentations on the fly. However where we really want to see this device is on a digital camera or portable Media Player for instant viewing pleasure. The only catch? It won't be available for another 7 years.

Pioneer G8 Plasma TVs
Announced earlier in the year, I managed to get my first up close and personal look at the new Plasma's from Pioneer, and wow, they are very impressive. Available in 42-, 50- and 60-inch screen sizes they have to be one of the most impressive screens I saw at the show.

Samsung Duo Player
Samsung might not be the first to create a dual HD DVD and Blu-ray player, that award goes to LG's Super Multi Blue, but what is impressive here is the price. At just £600 it's just £100 more than Sony's standalone player, but you get the benefit of watching Paramount and Dreamworks titles to boot.

Creative Zen MP3 player
Apple might be rumoured to be releasing new iPod's this week, however those looking for an alternative to Apple would do well to check out the Creative Zen. The size of a credit card the small media player was very impressive for those looking for a pocketable device. We especially like the optional SD card slot so you can expand the memory beyond the 2GB, 4GB and 8GB options especially once you start looking at Toshiba's 32GB SDHC memory card.
