VIDEO: Viper SmartStart turns the iPhone into your car key

A new system in the States from Californian company Viper will see iPhones used as remote controls for cars, as the Viper SmartStart can unlock your car, start your car, lock your car, open the boot, heat your car or cool it, all remotely, all via an iPhone app.

The Bond-esque system works on any car with electric windows and locks and works via a receiver that is installed in the car. It's due to go on sale at Best Buy stores for around $500 while the app is available via the App Store.

Hit play on the promo video above to give you a rough idea of what the system plus app combo will offer, while a much more detailed demo is available over on Viper's site.
