Top Gear going high def from November
Although the thought of seeing Jeremy Clarkson's mug in 1080p is not that appealing, we're happy to be able to inform Top Gear fans the show is going high def.
From 15 November, the motoring programme will be simulcast on BBC's HD channels - as well as being available in HD via the BBC's catch-up on-demand iPlayer service.
The Beeb has revealed the news in a blog post, with HD boss Danielle Nagler, writing:
"After several hundred emails from you as to why you feel Top Gear needs to make the journey from the SD to the HD world, I can confirm that the team is now working with HD cameras on the new series".
Nagler says she is "confident that the shift will ensure that the cars are glossier and faster than ever".
