Bafta nominated director Philip Bloom has made a short test reel of the Canon 7D in Dublin, giving us a chance to see what the new model is like in action.

The test footage, which was shot in the Temple Bar area, shows the camera doing pretty well in coping with a number of different environments and lighting conditions.

Bloom, who already owns two 5D Mark II models, is hoping that Canon will release a firmware update to bring his old cameras up to speed to stop him being disappointed.

"I would hate to go back to just having 30p again and having to convert everything AND no slow motion," he comments.

His actual set-up included "the Canon 7d, Zacuto Tactical rig, Z-Finder V2 and one lone lens, a Canon 35mm f1.4, which becomes more like a 50mm lens on the 7d."
