The Android Market will be getting a minor but significant face-lift on the launch of the 1.6 version of Google's mobile OS. When browsing through the app store, users will now be able to see promotional icons by each app and descriptions that give a better insight as to what the software is all about, without necessarily having to go further to check.

Better still, there'll be the introduction of four new categories - sports, health, themes and comics - and, once you've navigated to the individual app pages, there'll be screen shots which developers will be able to put in to show off exactly what their hard work has been all about.

There's good news as well for Italians who can now also upload their software through the publishers website and onto any country where users pay for apps.
