Toshiba still upscaling with the XDE600 DVD player
There's no reason why the world should switch to Blu-ray, even if Toshiba finally has, so the XDE series of DVD players is still there offering "near to 1080p quality".
The XDE600 is named after eXtended Detail Enhancement which works on the colour, contrast and the detail itself to produce as Full HD an image as possible from an SD input.
The player still features the tech from last year's XDE500 - the contrast, sharpness and colour fine tuning - but the addition of a USB port is really what it's all about for the end user.
It supports SCART, component, HDMI and composite video outputs and will now play all your DivX downloads too straight from mass storage. It's out later this year, hopefully at a BD undercutting price.
