Windows Vista SP1 coming Q1 2008

Updates still promised inbetween

Microsoft has announced the first update for its new operating system Windows Vista.

However those hoping to download it today to fix any problems they are experiencing with the new OS will be disappointed. The new patch, according to Microsoft won't be with us until the first quarter of next year.

Between now that then, the company said that it will be going through an extensive beta test over the next couple of months.

The news was announced on its Windows Vista Blog.

According to the blog, SP1 will contain changes focused on addressing specific reliability and performance issues Microsoft has identified via customer feedback, supporting new types of hardware, and adding support for several emerging standards.

SP1 also promises to make additional improvements to the IT administration experience.

Microsoft has said a Beta release of Windows Vista SP1 is slated for availability in the next few weeks.
