Apple confirms 5 September launch event - US and UK

Are new iPod's coming this way?

Apple's 5 September launch event has just got official with a invite straight into Pocket-lint's inbox.

Not many details are being confirmed as yet, however with the invite featuring a stack of albums in coverflow mode and the words: "The beat goes on".

You can expect it to be Apple's iPods getting a refresh, and maybe the launch of the much rumoured "fat" Apple iPod nano, or even the iPod Touch. There is even talk about the Beatles making an appearance - in iTunes of course.

AppleInsider speculates that "The beat goes on" reference is hinting at Beatles' downloads to finally make it to iTunes.

Their logic is that the last official statement from the super group said: "Until then, the Beatles are alive and well and the beat goes on, the beat goes on".

The event is happening 10am PST in San Francisco and here in the UK at the BBC Television Centre 6pm UK time on Wednesday 5 September, we will be covering the event live, so stay tuned.

We will keep you posted.
