Optoma has announced a new home cinema projector - the HD20 - which is says is the first native 1080p projector that costs less than £900.
It pumps out 1700 lumens, and has a 500:1 ANSI contrast ratio. The company says that should make it bright enough for gaming, even in ambient light. Optoma offers a five-year "as new" image quality warranty as standard.
It has two HDMI 1.3 ports, as well as component, VGA and composite inputs. It's quiet - only generating 29dB during operation - and weighs 2.9kg. The HD20 projector costs £899 and will be available from August 2009. That's now, so expect to see it popping up in both high street shops and online retailers very shortly.
