LG Electronics has launched the stylish Slim Portable Super Multi, a USB powered 8x optical rewriter designed specifically for use with laptops.

The Slim Portable DVD rewriter (GSA-E50N) is LG's smallest and lightest DVD rewriter yet.

The new drive is available in two models (GSA-E50N/L), where both have the exclusive to LG SecurDisc content protection as standard, while Lightscribe technology is optional.

The GSA-E5ON measures 21.4mm wide and weighs 380 grams, it has been specially designed for ease of portability, making it more convenient for people to access and burn information while on the move.

Powered through the laptop by USB, this new drive eliminates the need for a bulky power cord, enabling people to access the drive more easily on the go.

"The growing trend amongst today's consumer is to have fashionably designed technology, particularly if it's to be used in public", Suan Choi, product manager for LG Electronics, explains:

"Our aim with the Slim Portable Multi is to give people a stylish, state-of-the-art rewriter that they are proud to use in public."

"It's perfect for using on the move, is equipped with the latest technology to prevent loss of information and is a stylish partner to any laptop."

Both the GSA-E50N and the GSA-E50L are compatible with Windows Vista and have the ability to read and write in all three DVD formats (DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW and DVD-RAM).

The GSA-E50L is equipped with Lightscribe technology, giving users the opportunity to add character to discs with individual labelling.

Available from September, pricing to be confirmed.
