Sony launches Walkman E and B Series

Sony has launched two new Walkmans in the UK, the B Series and E Series models.

The 9.3mm slim, entry-level E Series offers mini portable media player abilities with a 2-inch screen and a recordable FM tuner with up to 30 hours of music or 6 hours of video playback.

With Sony's Clear Audio technology, there's a 5-band equaliser and a Dynamic Normalizer to balance volume levels between songs.

Supporting a range of formats, including WMA and WMV, there's also support for video file format conversion via the supplied Content Transfer software.

The B Series, launched in Japan as the Zappin range, is the ultra-portable option for gym-ers and commuters. It claims 18 hours music playback with a 3-minute quick charge to power it up for 90 minutes of listening.

As well as a recordable FM tuner, the B Series also offers "Zappin", the Sony function that plays a few seconds from each track for identification.

Both models offer drag and drop music transfer from a PC, while the E Series can hook up to iTunes 8.1 using Content Transfer and the B Series will play well with audio systems that support USB mass storage management.

Sony is offering accessories for the players with cases, a sports armband for B Series and a speaker dock for the E Series available.

Both models will be available from the end of July.
