Royal Family goes live on Twitter
The Queen, no stranger to modern communication methods or technology, has started Twittering.
Technically, the "royal household" is sending the tweets, but the @BritishMonarchy account will keep Twitterers up to date with the Queen's - and other members of the royal family's movements.
The latest tweet from the account alerts viewers to a new gallery of pics: "Gallery: The Queen receives the incoming Poet Laureate, Professor Carol Ann Duffy, at Buckingham Palace, 9... http://www.royal.gov.uk/D9"
A spokesperson told the BBC the royal household had signed up "to harness the popularity of Twitter to spread news about the Royal Family".
