Orange has followed Vodafone in announcing it will offer digital rights management-free music downloads in what it says is a "major refresh" of its music portal.

Orange will sell DRM-free music downloads from Universal Music, EMI Music and a number of independent labels.

The operator's DRM-free catalogue contains over 700,000 tracks and will be "enhanced" in the coming months.

A part of the refresh is new pricing, with downloads now available from 79p, presumably with the DRM-free music costing more.

Orange's music portal can be explored at or via certain handsets.
