Sony has moved to quash rumours that it has sold its robot division to Toyota this week.

In a statement sent out to press, the company stated that neither the technology behind its robotic dog, Abio or its pint sized robot Qrio has been sold/given/transferred to Toyota.

Stories first started appearing on the internet earlier in the week, suggesting that Toyota was looking for ways to complete with Honda as its very own Asimo.

Last year, Sony closed its robot division in an attempt to recoup lost costs as part of a restructuring programme.

We will keep you posted.
