Canon upgrades EOS 300D with the EOS 350D

Canon is hoping that an number of new additions to the 300D will give it the edge over its competitors. The 350D will feature a 8 megapixel CMOS sensor in a unit 14 per cent lighter and 22 per cent smaller than the current model.

The new model which will retail for around £800 in the UK (with lens) will also use the same processor that powers its EOS 1D-Mk II model. The DIGIC II image processor allows the ESOS 350D to snap 3 frames per second, 14 frame burst operation, slightly higher than its predecessors 2.5frames per second and 8 frame burst rate.

Canon has also said that it has increased the start up time to 0.2 seconds.
The camera will also feature an manual ISO range of 100 - 1600 and 3 AF modes. It will also be available as without lenses in a body only option costing £749.99.

To coincide with the launch of the new model Canon also announced the launch of a new dedicated 60mm lens for the camera and its D-SLR EOS range.
