Samsung has announced a new consumer smartphone in addition to the four business focused Omnias it announced on Monday.
The new Samsung Jet will offer a 16 million 3.1-inch WVGA AMOLED display that, promises Samsung, provides a resolution that is four times higher than a WQVGA screen.
In an attempt to make the phone quick and responsive, the Jet will come with a 800MHz application processor giving it its name.
Other features include Samsung’s latest TouchWiz 2.0 user interface, the Dolfin Web browser rather than Opera and a 5-megapixel camera.
Users will be able to find their way via built-in GPS while the multimedia aspects are catered for via DNSe & SRS Sound Effect technology for superior sound quality, and DivX and XviD video support for hassle-free video downloading and viewing.
The Jet also supports Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.
According to Samsung, the Jet will be available this week in the UK with an "affordable premium" when it comes to pricing.
Update: We've managed to squeeze UK pricing out of Samsung. It'll be free on a £35 a month from any operator, but free on a £25 a month contract from Vodafone. We don't know how long those contracts will be, but would guess 18 months at least.
