Three new mjus aim for premium market

Olympus claims their new mjus boast elegance and power, great design and strong features. Taking cues from their popular "SW" models, these three new cameras are all weatherproof - a handy feature on our damp isle.

The 8-megapixel Olympus µ [mju:] 820 offers 5x optical zoom and stylish, weatherproof body in midnight black, starry silver, ruby red or crystal blue. There's also 6.9cm LCD, integrated Face Detection Technology, 20 scene modes and movie recording with sound.

The Olympus µ [mju:] 820 will be available from September 2007 at around £180.

The Olympus µ [mju:] 830 offers the same 5x optical zoom (equivalent to 36-180mm on a 35mm camera).

It boasts double protection against blur caused by camera shake, which is more likely at high magnifications, is provided by Dual Image Stabilisation – a combination of high ISO setting and a mechanical image stabiliser.

The weatherproof, aluminium exterior, finished in silver or black, means picture-taking doesn’t have to stop when the sunshine does.

This is an 8-megapixel CCD model and has Face Detection Technology. The Olympus µ [mju:] 830 will be available from October 2007 at around £250.

The top of the range Olympus µ [mju:] 1200 packs 12-megapixels, Face Detection Technology as well as Shadow Adjustment Technology has been included to detect the shadow areas in a composition and corrects the exposure for a more detailed, realistic image.

It comes in Midnight Black, has a 6.9cm HyperCrystal LCD and the new TruePic III image processor which should mean good colours, excellent noise performance and quicker processing speeds.

The Olympus µ [mju:] 1200 will be available from October 2007 at around £270.
