As part of a wider range refresh today, Olympus has launched four new budget compacts into their range.

The Olympus FE-270 keeps it cheap and easy. It boasts 7.1-megapixels plus a 3x optical zoom and a 6.4cm LCD, along with a range of selectable scene modes to suit all photographic situations.

The Olympus FE-270 will be available from September 2007 at around £100.

With an ultra-slim, stainless metal exterior available in four brilliant colours, the Olympus FE-280 offers a choice of silver, blue, black or red. It has 8.0-megapixels and the new TruePic III image processor.

With a 6.4cm LCD, the Olympus FE-280 will be available from September 2007 at around £140.

The 4x wide zoom Olympus FE-290 comes in either a silver or a black housing. It boasts 7.1-megapixels and a 7.6cm LCD.

This camera boasts a "One button, one function" design principle, so promises simpler than ever operation.

The Olympus FE-290 will be available from September 2007 at around £170.

Although entry-class, the Olympus FE-300 is equipped with an impressive 12.0-megapixels to let you capture every bit of detail while retaining the ability to crop and resize images later on a computer.

Face Detection Technology works intelligently to ensure the accurate depiction of people, while high ISO settings help to prevent blur caused by camera shake.

The Olympus FE-300 will be available from September 2007 at around £200.
