Daily Tech Deal: GFI Software's free backup and recovery software

For your Friday tech deal we have a way you can backup your data for free, and so avoid the inconvenience of data loss from hard disk failure or virus attack.

GFI Software has announced the release of a free version of its newly-developed backup and recovery software GFI Backup 2009 Home Edition.

Apparently "perfect" for home users, GFI Backup 2009 will allow all PC users to safeguard their precious data, be they pictures, video, office documents or any other files.

The backup does not use a proprietary format, all data being saved to ZIP files, making it easy to restore data to a computer that may not have GFI Backup installed on it.

Data can be stored on nearly every storage device available such as
internal or external hard disks, on local area network (LAN)
locations, CD/DVD media, removable media devices (USB sticks, memory sticks, flash memory, floppy disks, etc) and remote locations using FTP with upload auto-resume.

The free software is available via the link below and we'll have another tech deal for you on Monday.
