One of the first things that many first-time smartphone users notice is that they only get a day or so out of their phone's battery before having to recharge it.

The iPhone is a particular offender, but have no fear, help is on the way in the form of the iG3 Mobile Power Station. It's a li-ion polymer battery that can give up to 250 hours extra standby time in an emergency.

The manufacturers suggest that it could be useful at festivals or on holiday. It's recharged via the same lead that charges the iPod/iPhone, and the battery and your handset can be charged together.

It costs £30, and is available now.
