Microsoft's Home Server software released

Hardware products a month off...

It seems that although there has been no official announcement, Microsoft's Home Server software has been released.

Microsoft's Windows Home Server software was been released to manufacturers working on the hardware last month.

With no official launch date for the software, it will be down to distributors to make announcements, although a tech support date for 27th August has been established in the States.

Hardware partners who will product Windows Home Server based servers include Medion, Fujitsu-Siemens, LaCie and Hewlet Packard, products are expected in around a month.

Software-only sales for small companies or enthusiasts will also be available, although Microsoft has not announced pricing.

Windows Home Server, based on Windows Server 2003, will be a solution for homes with up to ten connected PCS and will offer file, folder and printer sharing, auto back-up protection and remote access.
