Hotpoint today showed off and demoed their new Openspace oven which is coming to a kitchen near you.
The new oven gives you all the regular features you'd expect to find in a modern in-built unit, but it comes with a twist. Insert a special insulated horizontal divider and your single oven becomes two, opening up a whole range of possibilities.
The top section can be used as a traditional grill, but reducing the capacity of the oven means less energy wasted whilst grilling. Equally, you can use the top section as an oven for speedy cooking, without having to heat the entire thing.
Alternatively, you can use both sections as separate ovens, each with different temperatures and their own timer, so you can cook different dishes simultaneously, with the top being a fast cook oven and the bottom a traditional fan oven.
Or you can simply use it as a single oven, with a capacity of 70 litres, and a triple glazed door and Halogen lights so you can see what's cooking. Hotpoint boast that the oven has 20% more space than competing models with the same external dimensions.
The Openspace oven is A rated for energy efficiency, and features a number of "Intelligent Programmes" for roasting, bread, cake and pizza.
