The humble walking stick has been brought into the 21st century with the launch of the Slik-Stick.

Created by Denise Anstey under the guidance of Trevor Bayliss, the walking stick features a collapsible design, a LED torch, flashing warning lights down its shaft, a strong magnet for picking up keys without bending over and even an alarm for when you've fallen over.

A wind-up motor that promises to provide several minutes of juice for a minutes worth of winding provides power for the LED lights and alarm meaning you don't need to worry about replacing the batteries. The walking stick offers four different height positions and a rubberised grip.

The walking stick, which is available now, costs £35.
