Re-Enter The Matrix Online In Spring 05

14 February 2005 20:48 GMT / By Kenneth Henry

After sales of five million copies two years ago, another Matrix game was guaranteed and the release of the gigantic box set with everything from 1999 to the end of 2003 in DVD format, development of the online version went quiet, until now.

The Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game, published by Sega together with Warner Brothers and developed by Monolith is due for release in the US on March 22nd. With a customary delay for bugs to be ironed out and drum up demand, it debuts in Europe on April 8th, so if you have no interest in the forthcoming Royal wedding, you can grab the trenchcoats, shades and do battle.

Although there'll be heavy concentration on martial arts combat, there are screenshots featuring weapons for all those who want to recreate the classic lobby scene from the first film. There will also be a level/skill upgrade system in the best RPG tradition, although we're sure that combat will never be far away, whether or not you're not on any one of the many missions.
