£99 on pre-pay contract with 3 megapixel camera

Samsung has launched a new mobile phone aimed at the entry-level market in an attempt to compete against Sony Ericsson's J series of handsets.

The new phone, which will be simplistic and traditional in design, will feature a 3 megapixel digital camera with autofocus on the back and a 1.8-inch 220 x 220 pixel display on the front, although Samsung say that it won't have a strong focus on multimedia functions.

The new phone designed by Jasper Morrison comes in silver and includes 70MB of internal memory as standard and incorporates a MicroSD memory card slot for additional picture storage.

Samsung say the phone, which weighs just 66 grams, will be available in August and cost £99.99 on pre-pay contracts.
