A CD encoding company based in Northern Ireleand called Ripfactory has developed in-store kiosks that will let you rip a CD or DVD to your portable player before you even leave the shop.

Called "CD Squared" the machine will let you transfer the content of the CD or DVD to your iPod, MP3 player or mobile phone as soon as you've made the purchase.

The kiosk can load up to four CDs at one time and boasts an easy to use touchscreen interface.

As well as ripping the media from the CD is will also transfer cover art and other info such as track listings.

Apparently Ripfactory has already signed a deal with a major UK chain so we might well be seeing CD Squared machines in stores near us soon.

For anyone who really, really can't wait to listen to their shiny new CD until they get home...
