Truphone integrates AIM into its Apple apps

Mobile VoIP service Truphone has integrated AOL Instant Messenger into its iPhone and iPod Touch applications.

Any customers on these devices will now be able to use Truphone to
instant message their AIM friends as well as make calls.

Truphone has already integrated Google Talk, Skype, Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger into its applications for these same devices, and adding AIM will only widen its current reach of 800 million addressable accounts.

"Our goal is for mobile phone users to be able to reach any contact on
their buddy lists, at any time and at no cost, using just one application", said Geraldine Wilson, Truphone CEO.

"We will keep integrating more services and functionality, on other platforms too, giving people everything they need to stay in touch, all within the Truphone application".

In a separate development, Truphone has also began to accept PayPal credit as a method of prepayment for calls out of its network. This further extends its reach, making it easy for people without major credit or debit cards to use Truphone's service.
