ZTE to launch low-cost solar phone at MWC
Following the news of Samsung's "Blue Earth" solar mobile to launch at Mobile World Congress, Pocket-lint can reveal it won't be the only sun-powered device in attendance.
ZTE, a Chinese mobile phone manufacturer and Digicel, a Jamaican-based operator, are to unveil the world's first solar-powered ultra low cost mobile phone.
Aimed at developing markets, the ZTE option is for those who need the solar tech in order to actually be able to use the phone, rather than for the more faddy eco-nista type market.
The companies state: "Here is a mobile phone that has the potential to bring mobile communications to the two billion people currently unable to use modern telecommunications because they have limited or no access to electricity".
Pocket-lint will bring you more on both the Blue Earth, and ZTE's more down to earth option, from the show floor next week.
