Sony has submitted a patent application in America that appears it could be planning some sort of touchscreen printer.

The patent held at the US Patent and Trademark Office is titled "Image forming device, having an ejection tray, and a display is mounted to a cover", which basically means a clamshell printer with a touchscreen surface on the top of it.

The idea behind it is for users to be able to view and edit their pictures wirelessly on the printers display, and then print them from there.

It certainly looks like something we could see in a few years, but whether Sony will ever make this reality - as with any patent - is anyone's guess.
