Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has become the first DS game to receive an 18 classification from the BBFC.
Take-Two had previously stated that it was going to use Chinatown Wars to see how far it could push mature content on the DS and Wii, and it seems now it may have the answer.
The game passed the board with no cuts to content required, which must have been a relief for Rockstar who previously clashed with the BBFC over the content in Manhunt 2, and claimed that Chinatown Wars could not be "softened" for a family audience.
Rockstar's Dan Houser said: "[Chinatown Wars] can't be softened to make it family-friendly - that's not the game we're making. We've never not done well by sticking to our guns".
The controversial drug-dealing mini-game no doubt helped someway towards the 18 rating. However, the fact it passed means that other developers that may have dismissed Wii and DS as too family-orientated for their games, may now think again.
