Sonic 2 in double WiiWare update

If you start feeling the post-Christmas blues come Boxing Day, get yourself onto Virtual Console and you will find two new games for you to spend your Wii Points on.

Firstly, for 800 Wii Points you can get the classic Secret of Mana, originally developed for the Super Nintendo console. You play as a young warrior undertaking a journey to find the Seeds of Mana in order to restore the balance of good and evil to the universe.

Watch out though, as things are not as they seem in this game. Magic swords release evil as well as fight it. Treasure chests hold booby traps. Monsters are friends - and friends are enemies. Potions give power, black magic takes it away. Dragons fly, weapons change.

It's a world gone topsy turvy. And of course, you have to make it right again by solving the Secret of Mana.

Second up is everyone's favourite hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog, in his second adventure for the Master System - aptly named Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

For 500 Wii Points you can enjoy all the action of Sonic as he tries to rescue his sidekick Tails, who made his debut in this instalment, from the evil Dr. Eggman.

In fact, Dr. Eggman has kidnapped all of Sonic's animal friends, and placed them in robotic mind-controlling suits. To get them back, Sonic needs to find the six Chaos Emeralds, take them to him and then defeat him.

Both will be available from 26 December.
