Fallout 3 has debuted at the top spot of the UK all-format chart this week, and demonstrated record sales for the series.
In fact the game, developed by Bethesda for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, sold more than the combined sales of the original Fallout, its sequel and spin-off titles such as Fallout Tactics and Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel.
It also dwarfed the first week sales of Bethesda's The Elder Scroll IV: Oblivion, being 57% stronger.
The game sold best on Microsoft's console, with 55% of the sales being attributed to the 360, while the PS3 and PC stacked up 28% and 17% of sales respectively.
Fallout 3 knocked Fable II from the top spot, and held off popular games such as Fifa 09 and Wii Fit - the latter of which had its third biggest sales week since release.
