Economic slump will affect mobile gaming, says Nokia boss
The head of gaming at Nokia has predicted that the current state of the worldwide economy will seriously affect the mobile gaming market both this year and next.
The market already suffered an unexpected slump in 2007, and Jaakko Kaidesoja thinks it is set to get even worse.
"This year is as tough or even tougher," said Kaidesoja. "There are hiccups in Western Europe, North America."
Research firm Informa indeed found that the mobile gaming market did not grow in 2007, following years of double-digit growth.
"We expect challenging times to continue. The overall gaming market is likely not growing," continued Kaidesoja. However, he did say that he though some parts of the market, such as pre-loaded games, N-Gage and iPhone, would grow. Well he would say N-Gage...
