Microsoft hails 360 "preferred stage" for music games

Microsoft has taken it upon itself to label the Xbox 360 platform as the "preferred stage" for music games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero, following NPD sales results in the US.

It stated that Xbox Live has "delivered more than 80 per cent of the downloadable songs for music games, currently averaging 3.8 million music downloads per month," which tots up to a total of 45 million music files to date. Not bad really.

Adding more fuel to its ammunition is the fact that almost two million copies of Rock Band have been sold for the Xbox 360 in the US market so far, which Microsoft was quick to point out is "almost 1 million more than the competition combined."

The game's sequel, Rock Band 2, has sold 363,000 units for 360 since its release in America on September 14th.
