Retailer leak confirms Canon EOS-40D for September

Looks like the unannounced DSLR is coming soon...

Canon has already suffered one leak with its as-yet-announced Canon EOS-40D digital SLR when the model appeared on an association PictBridge certification list, but now American retailer Best Buy has also stuck the boot in.

An insider at the company has leaked info about the camera's stocking code that reveals the DSLR will hit shelves in the States on September 2nd.

Specs-wise we're looking at a 10.2-megapixel sensor, a 2.5-inch LCD display, an ISO range from 100 to 3200 and the 40D gets the more recent DIGIC III imaging processor as well as a dust removal system, true spot metering, and a five frames per second burst rate.

The price Best Buy is showing for this new offering is $1,599, which is expected to be the official RRP, but no info provided about a lens included in the price.

Pocket-lint.co.uk will be attending Canon's Autumn collection press event on the 20th August - so fingers crossed for an official announcement then.
