Samsung "Blast" launches on T-Mobile in the States

Samsung has launched the "Blast" (or the SGH-T729) in the States, exclusive to T-Mobile.

Described as "fierce-looking" (think that means "fine" in the US, rather than scary) this is a crimson and black slider phone that conceals a Qwerty-esque keypad for easy text entry.

Text-based connectivity is this handset's selling point - it is particularly tweaked for text messaging, instant messaging and e-mail.

The Blast is the first T-Mobile phone to provide direct access to personal e-mail, including AOL email, Yahoo! Mail and Gmail. IMAP4, POP3 and SMTP protocols are also supported.

Email messages on the Blast can be read and responded to for the same pricing as text and picture messages - meaning there's no need to purchase a data package.

Access to instant messaging includes built-in support for AOL Instant Messenger, ICQ, Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger.

Elsewhere there's stereo Bluetooth technology, a 1.3-megapixel camera with video capture, external memory card slot and an MP3 player.

It's free on a two year contract with T-Mobile, no news on whether this "fierce" fone will see a launch outside of America.
