At Apple's "Town Hall" venue in Cupertino Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO, yesterday confirmed what was widely expected - a new range iMacs, the company's consumer desktop offering.

Although not mentioned in Steve Jobs' keynote speech, the Mac mini also got an update.

Rumoured for the chop, Apple's "unloved" small form factor PC had gone sometime with no refresh so was due for an overhaul.

Now with Intel Core 2 Duo, the two new models are more faster and more powerful than before, boasting a speed increase of up to 33%.

The cheaper version, at £399, boasts 1.83GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB of memory and an 80GB hard drive.

The higher-end model, priced at £499, packs 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB of memory and a 120GB hard drive.

The "BYODKM" philosophy - bring your own display, keyboard, and mouse - still stands.

Both new versions are available now.
