Pioneer launches DV-420V upscaling DVD player

As well as new BD-Live-enabled Blu-ray players, Pioneer has debuted the new Pioneer DV-420V 1080p upconverting DVD player.

Pioneer claims the machine is the first to feature an exclusive MP3 encoding capability "for supreme music portability".

This new song encoding feature lets users take their audio CDs and rip them into MP3 files that can be immediately transferred to a USB flash drive, hard drive or portable music player.

The DV-420V offers a slimline design, HDMI connectivity, front panel USB port, DivX support, JPEG support and compatibility for multiple audio (WMA and AAC) and video (WMV) format files.

The player also gets HDMI, component video and S-video connectivity ports.

The Pioneer DV-420V will begin shipping in summer 2009 in the States for the suggested price of $90.
