Nokia has revealed it has stopped production of its N810 WiMAX Edition internet tablet.
The Finnish phone maker launched the device in April 2008 with the aim of offering it with Sprint's new XOHM network, a troubled launch that saw delays.
"We have ramped down the N810 WiMax Edition tablet. It has reached the end of its lifecycle", said a Nokia spokesman.
As a models usual shelf life is at least a year, the move is being described as a "blow" to the technology.
Nokia has not ruled out introducing more WiMAX phones in the future, depending on how the technology fares: "We will continue to follow the technology and its evolution", the spokesman said.
