Panasonic has set a new world record for the fastest car in the world powered by standard regular AA batteries.

Although not something that we are sure happens often, it took 192 Panasonic AA Oxyride dry cell batteries in total to achieve the result.

The 38kg car which looks like it barely had room for its driver let alone a passenger or the weekly shop managed a top speed of 122km/h and had an overall speed of 105.95km/h across 2 1km runs making it the fastest vehicle of its type.

We'd just hate to see the recharge pack for that lot.
