Through the SEG blog, Sony has responded to the rumours doing the rounds about the new Sony Alpha DSLR models.Leaked specs and pics recently showed two new digital offerings from Sony, codenamed the Alpha 200 and Alpha 300, that gave more insight to the new models than Sony had officially revealed at PMA earlier in the year.
In the post Mark Weir, senior technology and marketing manager for Alpha and Cyber-shot digital cameras says:
"Many of you have asked for more information on the new Alpha cameras and lenses revealed last March at the Photo Marketing Association conference."
"We would surely like to say more, but the competitive nature of the camera business doesn’t allow us to provide further detail just yet."
"Even so, I want to assure you that the models are on schedule and that we are dedicated to fulfilling your high expectations for the Alpha system."
The reference to the cameras being on schedule should mean that we see one model before the end of this year, and the pro level model in early 2008.
Weir goes on to thank folks for their patience and signs off with "it won’t be much longer!".
