Symantec has announced the availability of Norton Internet Security 4 for Mac, described as a next-generation security suite that integrates an all-new firewall and anti-virus protection with tools to help protect against identity theft.
This newest version, that installs in about one minute, also features an improved user interface with the promise of fast, unobtrusive updates. In addition it offers fully configurable settings for more technical users.
Symantec is also offering Norton Internet Security for Mac Dual Protection, that's designed for Mac users running Boot Camp or other Windows virtualisation software.
This solution claims to provide comprehensive protection from both Mac and Windows-based vulnerabilities and malicious code.
"Even Mac owners are susceptible to online threats, and when it comes to phishing, it doesn’t matter what platform you're using", said Rowan Trollope, senior vice president, Consumer Business Unit, Symantec.
"The data we are seeing from Symantec's Security Response is showing that Macs can be a target for viruses and malware. Norton Internet Security for Mac now helps safeguard users from phishing threats, malware and hackers, without compromising system performance".
Norton Internet Security for Mac and Norton Internet Security for Mac Dual Protection will be available for purchase in the UK from January 2009 for £49.99, or £69.99 for the Dual Protection. Both include a year's worth of updates.
